Don’t Miss Our Next Virtual Talkback
Anna Deavere Smith’s Twilight: Los Angeles
Tuesday, July 7 at 2:00pm (eastern)
Anna Deavere Smith, a professor, playwright, and MacArthur “genius” grant recipient, has appeared in many television shows including Black-ish, Nurse Jackie, and The West Wing. She is best known to theatre audiences for her “documentary style” full-length solo pieces, forged from hours of interviews. Her subjects have included the 1991 Crown Heights race riot, the press, and the school-to-prison pipeline.
Twilight: Los Angeles was created after the acquittal of police officers in the Rodney King trial, and the events that followed. To watch the production on PBS Great Performances, click here.
To participate, view Twilight: Los Angeles at your leisure. To register for our Virtual Talkback on Tuesday, July 7 at 2:00pm (eastern), please click here. (We will hold July 8 at 2:00pm as a back-up if the first session fills up.) Registration will close on Friday, July 3 at 5:00pm (eastern). We will email you a link to the Zoom call at least 24 hours before the Talkback.
We look forward to discussing this remarkable piece of theatre with you. It is as relevant today as when it was first created in 1992.
