News of Chester Alums on Stage and Screen

We love when news of our colleagues reaches us here in Chester! It’s always exciting to share new and noteworthy projects our friends are working on.

Ami Brabson, who commanded the stage in 2017’s Skeleton Crew, will be appearing soon at Smith College in her one-woman show Phenomenal Women. This evening of music, poetry and storytelling celebrates women who have dared to speak their minds. The performance will be followed by a talkback moderated by Daniel Elihu Kramer. The event is free and open to the public, so make an evening of it in Northampton!

Where: Hallie Flanagan Studio Theatre, Smith College When: Friday, November 2, 7:30pm

Congratulations to Mark Leiren-Young! His film, The Hundred Year-Old Whalewas the winner of the Best Short Film prize at the Friday Harbor Film Festival. The movie is about Granny, the world’s oldest Orca whale, who was estimated to be 105 when she died in 2017. Mark, a Vancouverite whose Bar Mitzvah Boy opened the 2018 season, is a passionate advocate for the Orcas that inhabit the waters around Washington’s San Juan Islands and the neighboring Canadian Islands.
